Biography
Stefan Giljum is Associate Professor for Ecological Economics and heads the research group „Global Resource Use“ at the Institute for Ecological Economics of WU Vienna. Stefan focuses his research on global assessments of natural resource use, environmental impacts and the links to globalisation, trade and development issues. For this, he combines methodologies from earth observation, environmental accounting and input-output modelling. Stefan currently holds a Consolidator Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) for performing fine-scale assessments of Europe’s global material footprint (FINEPRINT). Stefan has 20 years of experience in coordinating national and international research and policy consulting projects, including for the European Commission, UNEP and the OECD.
